CARIBBEAN CRUISE FUNDRAISER

Everyone at Grueninger Music Tours understands that any youth group tour involves large amounts of money.
To help in the process of raising funds for your trip, we created the Caribbean Cruise Fundraiser.

One participating high school raised over $65,000 through this raffle program!

How does it work?

• The band prints tickets for your trip participants to sell “chances” to win the cruise-for-two prize.

• The suggested pricing for tickets is one for $5 or three tickets for $10.

**Ticket prices are the sole discretion of your music department. You may sell them at any price. You must also follow your local and state laws regarding the sale of raffle tickets.

• Our only stipulation is that ALL of the money goes toward the account of the student who sells the tickets. So, you need to keep records of how many tickets each student sells. We do not want the group to split the profits. Those who work the hardest reap the most rewards. Success is based on effort!

What does the raffle winner receive?

7-night Eastern or Western Caribbean cruise for two aboard Holland America from Florida.

*The cabin category won is the minimum inside stateroom category N. If you are interested in a category upgrade or wish to take children, we will be happy to quote rates once dates have been chosen.

What does the cruise NOT include?

Taxes and fees, which are approximately $425-$475 per person for the 2018 season. You are also responsible for your own airfare and transportation to and from the airport and cruise ship. There are some blackout dates that apply (generally around holidays and other high demand weeks).

FUN FACTS

Every year comes with a new President of the Tournament of Roses, and it’s this person who gets to choose the theme of the year, which is meant to inspire the float designs for the parade.
According to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, 80,000 hours of combined manpower are put into the floats and planning each year. The Tournament of Roses Association has 935 members to help out, but plenty of other volunteers, businesses and individuals put in a lot of effort to make the event a success.
The parade and Rose Bowl game have a “Never on Sunday” rule. Every year, the events are meant to be held on January 1st, but if the date falls on a Sunday, it’s moved to compensate. This policy was put into place in 1893, according to RoseBowlHistory.org. Their goal was originally to avoid frightening horses tethered outside local churches, which would have been disruptive.
The Rose Parade follows the same route every year. It’s a five-and-a-half-mile stretch that takes about two hours to complete. The Pasadena Tournament of Roses website specifies that the floats, equestrians and marching bands travel at a pace of about two and a half miles per hour, which is quite leisurely – giving viewers ample time to view the roses, tropical flowers and natural displays.
The Tournament of Roses has a huge worldwide audience. The Pasadena Tournament of Roses anticipates that around 47 million Americans will tune in to watch the Parade of Roses this year on TV, while around 700,000 are expected to line the parade route on January 1. In addition, viewers from 220 territories around the world will be tuned in, bringing the total TV audience to around 14.3 million households. That’s only slightly more than the amount of people who will be watching the Rose Bowl game.

We manage every performance tour detail ourselves, leaving nothing to chance. We do not offer “off the shelf” tours. We provide every client with a custom designed tour to meet your specific needs. This flexibility translates into a more successful and cost-effective program for you and your students.

You will have ONE contact with 24/7/365 access. From the development of your itinerary, on-site coordination at the event, and right through to your final trip reconciliation, you will have ONE contact for everything you might need.

Your students and their money are protected. We secure your funds and are fully bonded and insured. We also carry the seal of approval from both the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) and National Tour Association (NTA).

Grueninger Music Tours has “connections.” Having traveled to the Tournament of Roses for many years, we have close relationships with many executives at the event. Additionally, we only use vendors we have carefully screened, or with whom we already have a well-established working relationship.

“Let me relate one incident that illustrates why GMT should be the travel company for every Rose Parade band. When we marched the 2013 parade we carefully loaded everything on parade morning, got to the drop off site, unloaded and headed up the ramp to the line-up area. Things looked great until I asked my head drum major where the official Rose Parade tuba bell covers were. He gave me a terrified look and said that they were left on the bus – which was now headed to the end of the parade route. My first thought was that we would have to march without the covers, but I knew that Mike Grueninger was out and about and knew that if anyone could help, he could. I called Mike and told him our dilemma. 30 minutes later he delivered the covers to us – with plenty of time to spare before we marched. I still don’t know how he got to the buses, got the covers, and got them back to me at the front of the parade before it started, but bottom line is I don’t think any other company could have managed that for us.”
