Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade

Dating back to 1920, the nation’s oldest Thanksgiving parade takes place in Philadelphia.  Wouldn’t marching in this historical parade impact your marching band?  How proud would your students feel when they walk the 1.5-mile parade route experiencing the 700,000 spectators?  We can help you make this possible in 2018 or 2019! Organizers strive to make the parade “the most band-friendly parade in the country” and they welcome applications from high school, university, and specialty marching bands. The parade has 19 spots for marching bands each year and it accepts bands consisting of 90 members or more. Bands are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and it is common that bands choose to return every two to four years.

A typical trip to the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade will include several visits to historic sites in the Philadelphia area including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.  After our time in the “Philly” area, we then head west to New York City for an overnight in Manhattan.  While in NYC, the students can see Times Square, have a dinner cruise or even take in a Broadway Show.  The options are endless!
